Birmingham Science City's projects are split across the 5 key technology themes:
There are currently 11 'revenue projects' funded by Birmingham Science City - these short-term projects are designed to showcase new technologies which can benefit businesses in the West Midlands and build links between local business and the knowledge base. These projects also address some of the key issues affecting 'quality of life' in healthcare, sustainability and digital communications. The projects will all help demonstrate that the West Midlands is a leading player in the application of science and technology in the UK.
£3.3 million has been invested in the revenue projects. Advantage West Midlands have invested £2.1 million in the projects, with an additional £1.2 million coming from other public and private funding sources.
In addition to the revenue projects there are also a number of larger Capital projects planned - these are focused on increasing the potential of the knowledge base - the first of these projects, a collaborative project between Birmingham University and the University of Warwick is already underway: The Hydrogen Energy Project.
