Improving the environmental performance of buildings is one of the key challenges for the region. This project, run by Sustainability West Midlands, will demonstrate the life-cycle costs and performance of different sustainable housing technologies to developers, housing associations and construction companies.

The work follows up previous SHAP projects to bring research up-to-date, to compare construction costs and life-cycle costs for sustainable housing against conventional housing and to identify opportunities for developing the supply chain for sustainable technologies. Science City funding of £45k will be matched with £50k of public sector funding (through Energy West Midlands and the Energy Savings Trust) and £10k of private sector in-kind contribution.
