Case study

Intelligent Zero Emmission Vehicles

Transport is an industrial strength in the West Midlands but also creates a growing problem of congestion and pollution. This project based at Birmingham University and including Coventry University will look at the low carbon and IT technologies which can reduce emissions, plan routes to avoid congestion and enhance the user-appeal of electric vehicles through integrating communications systems. The project will work with leading companies in the region, including Microcab, Tempus Computers, BT and RDM Automotive. It will also work with Birmingham City Council to compare performance of electric and diesel delivery vehicles – identifying any benefits to switching to electric vehicles for council vehicle fleets.
