Networks, Nodes and Knowledge: from virtual to real

The Digital World Meeting entitled “Networks, Nodes and Knowledge: from virtual to real” will take place on the evening of Wednesday 13th October 2010 at Hotel du Vin Birmingham.

According to the National Academy of Engineering “true virtual reality creates the illusion of actually being in a difference space. It can be used for training, treatment, and communication.”

Speakers include:

Lucy Hooberman , director of Digital Media and Innovation at the University of Warwick has a career that spans the BBC and industry.

David Burden directs Daden , a rapidly growing SME which won first prize at this year’s Virtual World Challenge for Pivote, its open-source authoring system for learning in virtual worlds.

Jonnie Turpie , founder of Maverick TV, who will present on the latest developments in the digital media business.

Experts from across the West Midlands are joining in to explore opportunities to work together. Plans for individual innovators and SMEs to succeed in the sector will be formulated over food and drinks. Meetings with business leaders and investors will be arranged. A lively panel discussion will focus on ways to help innovation succeed at individual and regional levels.
