BIG Hydrogen Challenge winners
Congratulations to all of the young people who entered our BIG Hydrogen Challenge! We received a great response and were delighted to name Sophia Deans from King Edward VI Handsworth School as the overall winner!
The winner of each age category is as follows:
11 year olds – Sophia Deans (King Edward VI Handsworth School)
12 year olds – William Stuart (St Peters RC Secondary School, Solihull)
13 year olds – Martha Goshawk (King Edward VI Handsworth School)
14 year olds – Harjit Bansal (Yardleys School, Birmingham)
Runners-up included:
11 year olds – Megan Green (Northampton School for Girls)
13 year olds – Aqua-Lucia Di-Vito (Heathfield College)
14 year olds – Will Edwards (The Chantry School, Martley, Worcestershire)
King Edward VI Handsworth School also submitted the most entries and clinched a coveted class trip to Thinktank for its efforts! Thinktank’s Education Manager, Lorraine Kenny, presented winners Sophia Deans and Martha Goshawk with their prizes during an assembly earlier this week. Miss Insch, Headteacher at King Edward VI Handsworth School, says: “When we heard about the BIG Hydrogen Challenge we encouraged a number of our students to enter. It’s great for them to consider how science is important outside the classroom and as part of our everyday lives. We’re really proud of Sophia and her winning entry, and it was great to welcome the Birmingham Science City and Thinktank team to our school to present her with her prize.”
Many thanks to all who entered – we were really impressed with the imaginative designs we received and encouraged to see the next generation of budding young scientists and engineers getting involved in thinking about the energies of the future.
