Birmingham takes the lead to inspire with science

01/03/2007

The website – which is the brainchild of the University of Warwick and Maverick Television - launches on 5th March and will showcase science and technology from across the region, encouraging people to become more involved with science.  Based around the core themes of energy, medicine & health, digital media and ICT, transport technology and materials science, the site currently includes over 50 videos featuring inspiring projects which inform of new scientific developments and aim to improve everyday lives.

Minister of State for Science and Innovation and Labour MP for Dudley South, Ian Pearson welcomed the new channel saying:  “ideasforlife.tv is a great forum for communication and an innovative solution to the key issue of making science and technology accessible to all. The UK has long had an enviable reputation for leading the world in terms of innovation and the West Midlands has played a big part in that story and clearly is continuing to do so!

“ideasforlife.tv will help to put the UK firmly on the digital map; the channel is already helping to put knowledge base organisations and businesses in touch with each other across the region and I’m sure it will prove a great success, not just for the region, but on the global stage.”

ideasforlife.tv is supported by Advantage West Midlands, the regional development agency, as part of Birmingham Science City.
