nanoTherics
North Staffordshire biomedical company nanoTherics is an experienced, highly innovative company in the life sciences sector researching, developing and commercialising products, which could be used in the future to treat genetic diseases.
The firm, based at Guy Hilton Research Centre in Hartshill, developed as a result of pioneering research undertaken in a joint project between scientists at Keele University and the University of Florida into gene transfer technology.
The company has focused its research onto a process known as transfection. Technology developed by nanoTherics uses this process, through a combination of magnets and minute magnetic particles, known as nanoparticles.
The Company now provides a range of magnetic nanoparticle-based products. These innovative technologies and products have been designed to offer faster, more efficient, scalable tools to improve research into genetic disease disorders, such Cystic Fibrosis, with potential of taking these from research laboratories to the clinic.
Since winning a Lord Stafford Award for Impact through Innovation in 2008, nanoTherics have expanded into Korea, Japan, France, Italy and Singapore.
