There are currently seven working groups, responsible for different areas of the project. They are:
This group is developing the communications strategy for Science City and exploring exciting new media such as broadband TV.
This group focuses on the opportunities provided both by new content and new infrastructure. Birmingham and the West Midlands are rich in areas such as wireless technologies and serious games expertise which demonstrator projects aim fully to utilise
Co-ordinating proposals to bring additionality and further value to the current West Midlands science activities to further promote science and support Science in Schools through Birmingham Science City. (SETNET, Science Learning Centre West Midlands and ThinkTank)
Their aim is to build on the great strengths in Birmingham and the West Midlands across all areas of healthcare.
The aspiration of Birmingham Science City is to create a low carbon city. Individual strengths such as those in fuel cells, biogas from waste, energy efficiency, large wind turbines and other areas will be used to make this aspiration a reality, with Science City.
This Group draws together the Chairs of the other working groups and other key stakeholders to develop an overall framework within which to develop current and future projects. The Group will then use this to guide further development of the initiative.
This is the newest working group, and is exploring demonstrator activities around the highly topical area of security.
